From teenage age, I used to watch the Eurovision Song Contest every year, and also enjoyed this year.
The contest 2021 was held in Rotterdam, Netherlands, (semi-finals May 18th, 20th, and grand final of May 22nd), following the country's victory at the 2019 contest with the song "Arcade" by Duncan Laurence. The Netherlands was due to host the 2020 contest before it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Eurovision Song Contest, often known simply as Eurovision, is an international song competition organised annually by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) which features participants representing primarily European countries. Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio, transmitted to national broadcasters via the EBU's Eurovision and Euroradio networks, with competing countries then casting votes for the other countries' songs to determine a winner. First, there is a national competition in each country, then only one winner from each country will be sent to represent their country in the Eurovision competition.
Eurovision has been held annually (apart from 2020) since 1956, making it the longest-running annual international televised music competition and one of the world's longest-running television programs. Active members of the EBU, as well as invited associate members, are eligible to compete, and as of 2021, 52 countries have participated at least once. Each participating broadcaster sends one original song of three minutes duration or less to be performed live by a singer or group of up to six people aged 16 or older. Each country awards two sets of 1–8, 10 and 12 points to their favourite songs, based on the views of an assembled group of music professionals and the country's viewing public, with the song receiving the most points declared the winner.
The interesting thing is that after pro international judges' judgment results, the public judgment results changed performance’s places just incredibly, and till the last country performer public results announcement you don’t know which performer will get 1st place. Jury and public judgments happen online, so that is really exciting.
Several of the best-selling music artists in the world have competed in past editions, including ABBA, Celine Dion, Julio Iglesias, and Olivia Newton-John, and some of the world's best-selling singles have received their first international performance on the Eurovision stage.

39 countries participated in the 2021 contest.
The winner was Italy with the song "Zitti e buoni", performed by Måneskin and written by the band's members Damiano David, Ethan Torchio, Thomas Raggi and Victoria De Angelis.
France, Switzerland, Iceland and Ukraine rounded out the top five!!
Will be so cool if EVE becomes bigger and bigger from year to year! Not only in Japan but also in Asia!

私は10代の頃からユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテストを毎年見ており、今年も楽しみにしていました。
2021年のコンテストは、2019年のコンテストでダンカン・ローレンスの「Arcade」で優勝したのに続き、
オランダのロッテルダムで開催されました（準決勝5月18日、20日、グランドファイナル5月22日）。
オランダは2020年のコンテストを開催する予定でしたが、新型コロナウィルスの影響で中止になりました。

ユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテスト（Eurovision Song Contest）は、
欧州放送連合（EBU）が毎年開催する国際的な歌のコンテストで、主にヨーロッパの国々の代表者が参加します。

各参加国がオリジナルソングを提出し、テレビやラジオの生放送で披露されます。
EBUのユーロビジョンネットワークとユーロラディオネットワークを通じて各国の放送局に配信され、
参加国は他の国の曲に投票して優勝を決定します。
まず、各国で国内大会が開催され、その後、各国の優勝者1名のみが自国を代表してユーロビジョン大会に派遣されます。

ユーロビジョンは1956年から毎年（2020年を除く）開催されており、
毎年開催される国際的なテレビ音楽コンクールとしては最も歴史があり、
世界で最も長く放送されているテレビ番組の一つでもあります。

EBUの正会員および招待された準会員に出場資格があり、2021年現在、52カ国が一度でも参加しています。
参加する各放送局は、16歳以上の歌手または6人までのグループがライブで演奏する3分以内のオリジナル曲を1曲送ります。
各国は、音楽専門家や視聴者の意見を参考にして、お気に入りの曲に1～8点、10点、12点の2種類のポイントを与え、
最も多くのポイントを獲得した曲を優勝とするのです。

面白いのは、プロの国際審査員の審査結果の後、公開審査の結果でパフォーマンスの順位が驚くほど変わり、
最後の国のパフォーマーの公開結果発表まで、どのパフォーマーが1位になるかわからないことです。
審査員と公開審査はオンラインで行われるので、とてもエキサイティングです。

過去の大会では、ABBA、セリーヌ・ディオン、フリオ・イグレシアス、オリビア・ニュートン・ジョンなど、
世界で最も売れている音楽アーティストが出場しており、
世界で最も売れているシングル曲の中には、ユーロビジョンの舞台で初めて国際的なパフォーマンスを行ったものもあります。

2021年のコンテストには39カ国が参加しました。
優勝したのはイタリアで、Måneskinが演奏し、バンドのメンバーであるDamiano David、Ethan Torchio、Thomas Raggi、Victoria De Angelisが作曲した「Zitti e buoni」という曲でした。
フランス、スイス、アイスランド、ウクライナがトップ5にランクインしました。

ユーロビジョンんのように、EVEが年々大きくなっていくとしたら、とても素晴らしいことですよね。
日本だけではなく、アジアでも活躍してほしいと思っています。
